Back from Tikal

Yesterday, we woke at 5:30 in the morning to hop on a minibus going to Guatamala!!! The drive was nice, until getting into Guatamala. There was definitely a huge difference in road maintenance between the two countries. Belize seems to have invested more of their money in their highway systems by far. Anyhow, we then stopped at a restaurant in La Machina, Guatamala (Evidentally named after the place where the bus stops next to some sort of machine...I guess that is how a lot of towns end up getting named.) After a nice meal of eggs, goat cheese, plantain, fresh pineapple juice and some sort of sausage, we were on the road again. We passed the second largest lake in Guatamala, Lago de Peten Itza....anyhoo, a thousand bumps in the road later we were there.

We had a very knowledgable guide that went by the name of Radical. We never got around to asking how his name came about, but he was very nice and hyper intelligent. We learned a bit about the Mayans and the history of Tikal. Soaked in the amazing beauty of the jungle surrounding us on top of Temple 4. Climbed all of the structures in the Temple 1 and 2 plaza...got some pretty awesome pictures and generally enjoyed the surroundings.

Yesterday we got to see Spider monkeys, howler monkeys, coatis and some sort of rainbow turkey(but not a peacok). So, cheers to Tikal and human sacrifice :S

Today, we chill at the compound...probably going to visit the Blue Hole National Park down the road. Tomorrow, we leave for further adventures! Post atcha later!
